[start] Connect OpenWRT to OpenWISP

This task is one of our initial tasks for those who want to learn how contribute to OpenWISP!

OpenWISP is an open source network management system focused on low-cost networks that aims to make it easy to deploy and manage networks made with Open Source Software like Linux OpenWRT.

Read and follow the instructions that explain how to connect OpenWRT to OpenWISP.

Please note down the challenges you have faced while working on this task.

Once the task is completed, play around with the configuration of the device in OpenWISP, change it a little bit (try to include your name/nickname somewhere) and then:

  • send us a screenshot of the registered device in the device list page of OpenWISP
  • send us a screenshot of the changed configuration in the web UI
  • send us a screenshot of the configuration that has been applied on OpenWRT (hint: use the cat linux command and search in /etc/config/ directory)
  • share each note you collected during the installation & send us the screenshots here in the GCI system
