PSLab Hardware: Learn How to Setup PSLab Hardware project on Your PC with KiCAD

OBJECTIVE

The idea is to get students interested in hardware development and get them an idea on open source hardware design platforms. Following steps are needed to mark the task as completed.

TASK

  • Fork and clone the pslab-hardware repository (share your GitHub link of the fork)
  • Download and install KiCAD latest version from https://www.kicad-pcb.org/download/
  • Open the pslab-hardware project as an existing project from KiCAD.
  • Browse to PCB Layout Editor from the main window and make sure the project builds with no errors.
  • Render a 3D layout of PSLab Circuit board with 3D components and the board and take a screenshot to verify the project setup is completed. (This screenshot should be somewhat similar to the device what you get at https://pslab.io/ homepage)
  • Follow the repository of the project by starring it, if you want to stay up to date

DELIVERABLES

Make sure following items are there in the submission to make it a completed task.

  • Screenshot of 3D rendered view of PSLab circuit board
  • Screenshot of PCB layout from PCB Layout Editor window
  • Link to the forked repository
