Add a classical music release to MusicBrainz
Note: If you haven't added any releases to MusicBrainz before, we recommend you do the standard "add a release" task first. That will introduce you to MusicBrainz release editing so you're not learning everything at once.
Find a classical music release that doesn't exist yet in MusicBrainz. You can use one from your own collection, or from your local library! If you can't find a physical one (CD or vinyl) you can try getting all your info from a label that includes cover art images on their website, like Chandos, Naxos or Hyperion.
Add the release to MusicBrainz with all the information you can. Make sure to add the relevant relationships and, if possible, at least a front cover. There is also a separate task for adding an entire booklet that you can look into later on if you are interested.
This is a relatively difficult editing task, and you should be willing to follow several guides:
- How to add a release
- How to use the relationship editor
- Our Classical guidelines should be followed when entering the release.
- The Classical toolbox has extra info and tips that you could take a look at.
You should be able to get help on the MusicBrainz IRC channel if you get stuck or have doubts, and in fact we would very much like to know what you have problems with! Go in, ask your question, and if nobody answers at first, just wait a bit!
When marking this task as complete, please provide a link to the added release.
