Add an audiobook to both BookBrainz and MusicBrainz

Note: It's a good idea to have done the tasks for adding a book to BookBrainz as well as adding a release to MusicBrainz before doing this one.

With BookBrainz being for literature, MusicBrainz being for audio… where, then, do audiobooks go? Why, both places of course!

For this task you will need to get an audiobook. (E.g., you can visit your local library and borrow one!) It can be any genre or language. It can be one you've listened to before, or something new! It can be split up on multiple audio CD, on a single MP3 CD, digital only, or some other format.

Once you have the audiobook you should:

  1. Add the audiobook to BookBrainz (follow the instructions in the task for adding a book to BookBrainz. Remember to add all applicable authors, works, publishers, identifiers, etc.
  2. Add the audiobook to MusicBrainz (follow the instructions in the task for adding a release to MusicBrainz). Be sure to adhere to the MusicBrainz Style guideline for audiobooks. (Note: if you have the audio, submitting to AcoustID and AcousticBrainz is appreciated.)
  3. Don't forget the Work entity on MusicBrainz (see the Style guideline above)
  4. Link the BookBrainz entities to the relevant MusicBrainz ones (ie., MusicBrainz Artist to the BookBrainz Author, and MusicBrainz Work to BookBrainz Work, MusicBrainz Release to BookBrainz Edition, etc.)
  5. Add links to MusicBrainz entities on the relevant BookBrainz ones (the same but opposite as step 4)

Paste links to your new entities for review to submit the task.
