Extensive Research for instruments: The "r*bab" for MusicBrainz

Last year we also had a task to research Gamelan instruments. Pretty much all of these are done now, however there s still one big difficult one: the Rebab!

Like its Wikipage states, the Rebab's etymology and links to its predecessors and relatives is very, very complicated; the rubab, the rebab, the rabab, are both different instruments (some plucked some bowed) but also the same name(s) used for different instruments: there is a pear-shaped lute, a long-necked spike-fiddle and at-least one subfamily of double-cavity instruments (like the kobyz) eventually this even relates to Veenas!

This task is an extended research task. It is a difficult one, so unless you've worked with all the other instrument tasks and done extensive research before, you should pick a different task.

For this task, you should research the various ways r*bab relates to itself(s) and other instruments, creating a rough timeline for how it branches out. This mostly a research task, and the found research should be posted to the Rebab ticket.

During this task you should work with your mentor closely and collaborate; it is an extensive task so it requires diligence.
