Research information for three open MusicBrainz instrument addition requests

Note: Before you do this task you should have completed the research information tasks for one and two MusicBrainz instrument addition requests, also see the intro for the first of them for more information about this task.

For this task, pick three open INST tickets (only from this list!) and research as much as possible about them.

Good information is:

  • What they look like. (Links to sites with reference pictures, sites that sell the instrument, etc.)
  • Where they came from. (Country or area.)
  • Usage and historical data. (Were they used traditionally? As a shaman-tool? As a toy?)
  • How old they are. (The Renaissance? The Middle Ages? Even older? Are they modern inventions?)
  • Who (if known) invented them, and when.
  • Links to Wikidata and other databases.
  • How they relate to instruments already in MusicBrainz. (Are they hybrids? Forerunners to the kazoo?) Provide links to instruments.
  • Be as concise as possible, lists are a good thing!

Note: All information must have sources provided!

Example of a well sourced INST ticket/comment: INST-484 - clavioline.

Add this information in a structured way as a comment on each ticket (don't edit them!) (for this you will need a ticket tracker account). Provide the INST ticket links and sources.

For more info on what is and isn't appropriate to add as instruments, see our instrument guide. If while researching you find out that an instrument might not match our requirements, make sure to mention that (and the reasons why) in the ticket comments!
