Create a favicon for the Wikimedia Hashtags tool
The Hashtags tool tracks the usage of hashtags (e.g. #test
) in edit summaries to projects like Wikipedia. It helps event organisers track edits made as part of a campaign or event, or using a particular editing tool. The source code can be found at https://github.com/samwalton9/hashtags.
The tool was recently rewritten and needs a new favicon. A very basic favicon was created but it's not very good.
You must either already know how favicons work and what their specification is (e.g. size and file format), or you must find out yourself! :) You could also take a look at the favicons for some websites to get design inspiration.
This is purely an exercise in creating the icon, and students do not need to worry about implementing it. You could, however, file a Pull Request on Github for the new icon.
I can be contacted via email (swalton@wikimedia.org), IRC (samwalton9 on Freenode), or via the Google Code-in site. Questions or progress updates can also be posted on Phabricator (https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T206111), and pull requests filed directly on Github.
