Test Fedora Kernel
Structure of task description Testing the Kernel is important and the regression suite enables us to create a platform to test and submit reports for bettering the Kernel. The goal of this is to have a simple regression test suite than any user can run against their running kernel. The tests should be fast, and non-destructive. If there are certain tests with destruction potential, they should be marked separately so that they will not run in the common case, but can be run as part of an extended run where the user doesn't fear data loss.
Introduction
- To start the task we need a Fedora OS which is booted into with sudo/root privilages.
- To have a FAS account which is used to map contributions in Fedora Projects. The account can be created at https://admin.fedoraproject.org/accounts/user/new
- The regression suite can be found at (https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Testcase_kernel_regression) along with how to execute
Goal Test as many kernel versions the students can and submit the logs back with their FAS Account.
Suggested approach
Follow the steps at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Testcase_kernel_regression
Deliverables and submission steps
- Once the task is complete, upload the log files and also send me a heads up with your FAS username at sumantro@redhat.com
