Go to project repository: github.com/djangonauts/django-rest-framework-gis

Star and fork the project, then clone it and install it locally on your computer using a new python virtualenvironment.

Update the django-filter dependency to the latest version and run the tests (the README explains how to do it).

If any test fails, find a way to fix it.

Once ready send a pull request, please use a good commit message :-).
