Context

It is possible to create several type of links on the wikis. The most common ones are links between articles or a link to another website (external link). But it is also possible to:

• create links between different wikis:
  • interlanguage links, a link from Italian Wikipedia to Haitian Wikipedia
  • interproject links (or interwikis links), a link from French Wiktionary to German Wikisource
• create links to categories
• create links to files

There are two ways to edit the wikis (for most of them):

• the "classic" source editor using wikitext markup
• the modern VisualEditor.

Task

This task is about the visual editor. You have to explain how to create links (simple and complex ones like [[:w:en:Example]], [[:m:Example]], etc.) using the visual editor.

This new documentation page should be a sub-page of https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:VisualEditor/User_guide, something like https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:VisualEditor/User_guide/Links.

Other instructions

The page has to be concise, easy to understand and easy to translate.

Make sure that you create the page and edit it under your Wikimedia wiki account - create an account if you do not have one yet. When done, you can use the sandbox to do all necessary tests.

If you have worked on documentation before, that is clearly a plus. You should also have good English for this task, and be willing to play with and test our software to understand it. :)
