Systers Community

Helping women find their potential in code.

About

Systers is a community for all women involved in the technical aspects of computing. We have over 7,000 members from more than 65 countries around the world. We welcome the participation of women technologists of all ages at any stage of their studies or careers. Systers provides women a private space to seek advice from their peers, and discuss the challenges they share as women technologists.

Mobile Application

Systers Open Source has many projects, but we are focusing on PowerUp (Android & iOS) for Google Code-in this year. In 2016, we had many students express that our internal acronyms for all projects were very confusing. PowerUp is a choose-your-own-adventure game is aimed at adolescents to take charge of their reproductive health, work on self-esteem, and empower them to have choices.

Mentors

All Systers mentors are volunteers. We have mentors from many different time zones which means our organization does not currently have 24-hour availability on Slack or the GCI Website.

  • If a task takes longer than 24 hours for review, politely ping the task's mentor in #powerup or #systers channel (i.e. @prachi1210, please review my task here: url).
  • If a task takes longer than 36 hours for review, politely ping the admins in #powerup or #systers channel (i.e. @may, I haven't received a review or response to my task here: url).

We welcome everyone! We need lots of help that involves no coding experience.
