OpenMRS
Running OpenMRS in the Cloud (Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud)
In recent years, cloud computing has become more popular among governments, companies and developers. One popular cloud platform is Amazon Web Services (AWS). It offers a service called Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) for scalable computing capacity. For this task, your goal is to setup OpenMRS on an EC2 instance and write an article about the process.
AWS provides a free tier for students (AWS Educate). To get started,
- Head over to AWS Educate and create a free account (https://aws.amazon.com/education/awseducate/)
- NOTE 1: Your application can take a few days before being accepted, so we suggest you create an account before claiming this task.
- NOTE 2: We recommended that you take screenshots throughout the process, but this is optional.
- In your AWS console (https://console.aws.amazon.com), select “EC2”
For this task, you should use the available Ubuntu Amazon Machine Image (AMI).
- Select Community AMI from the sidebar.
- Select the OpenMRS Ubuntu 10.10 instance and follow the instance setup wizard
- Follow this Wiki document for more details on configuring the instance: https://wiki.openmrs.org/display/docs/Installing+OpenMRS+on+Amazon+EC2
- After setting up your instance and installing OpenMRS, take screenshots and write a final article documenting the process
