OSGeo: add yourself to the OSGeo member map
The goal of this task is to add a point to your location on the OSGeo member map
Create a wiki account for yourself
- goto https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Main_Page and in the top-right corner click "Request Account"
- complete the username, email address, real name fields
- in the "Personal biography" section write "I am a GCI 2017 student, working on the Add yourself to the OSGeo Member Map task" and also a sentence of your technology interests or OSGeo interests.
- leave the "Other information" section empty
- agree to Terms of Service, and enter the code word
- click "Request Account" button
- paste your username here in the task as a comment, as the mentor has to approve your wiki account request
Follow the steps to add yourself to the member map: https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/OSGeo_Member_Map_documentation
- IMPORTANT: Don't use your home or school location. Use another location in your region. Do not list your address, phone or email on the wiki form (leave blank).
Take a screenshot of the marker for your location, on this member map
- zoom into your marker onto the map
- click on the marker, so your name appears
- take a screenshot that includes the map, your marker, and the name information
Add a link to your wiki profile page on the OSGeo wiki here
Please subscribe to the OSGeo gci-discuss mailing list (subscribe) and send an email there to introduce yourself to the OSGeo community & a link to your new wiki page (sample email). Please set a meaningful SUBJECT in your email.
