Bioconductor / 'tofsims' package: Setup Development Environment and run demo workflow

OBJECTIVE

The goal of the task is to make you familiar with the topic, development environment and data processing.

First, read up some basics about Mass Spectrometry on Wikipedia to get some background.

Then set up the development environment - R (https://cran.r-project.org) and the Bioconductor 'tofsims' package.

After that please run the given example workflow for processing ToF-SIMS Data and in the next step please run the same demo workflow on new data (20140919_pos_au3_06.RAW) provided in the data directory of the git repository.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Research the Wikipedia article on Mass Spectrometry
  • You need to install R, Bioconductor, 'tofsims' package
  • Tweet the image you get using #FOSSASIA #GCI #OpenScience #tofsims @fossasia
  • Post the outcome on social media e.g. Facebook

EXPECTED OUTCOME

  • successfully installed development environment
  • you ran the provided example workflow then downloaded a new data file (20140919_pos_au3_06.RAW) from the data directory in the git repository, imported and plotted it
  • tweeted and posted on social media
