Do a research on the communication tools Zulip and Mattermost, and document the pros and cons of using them

Zulip and Mattermost are two team communication and collaboration tools. We are considering to use of one these tools for communication purposes for Wikimedia's outreach programs (e.g. Google Code-in) to talk with students.

Here is what we would like you to do as part of this task:

  1. Create an account on https://meta.wikimedia.org.
  2. Create a page with a title: "Zulip vs. Mattermost comparison".
  3. Use the above wiki page for all the documentation work. Add a short introduction what the wiki page is about and link to the Wikimedia Phabricator task. The documentation should cover the following points:
    • Research the pros and cons of using each of these tools and document it. Use the following test instances for research: https://gitlab.mattermost.com/ and https://chat.zulip.org/
    • Include a brief description of the two tools, the features they offer.
    • Add any relevant links wherever necessary, and embed screenshots for visual clarity (please see the guidelines on screenshots and licenses).
    • Add a conclusion section explaining which out of the two tools would you recommend and why?

You are also welcome to share your thoughts and opinion about this topic on the corresponding Phabricator task: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T154001.

Note: There is no word limit for this task, and we leave it up to you to structure the document.
