Update screencast video for "Watching a project to receive its notifications" in our Phabricator documentation

Phabricator is a collaboration platform used by Wikimedia. We have documentation. We also show how to do something in videos, instead of text only.

This video is out of date, due to user interface changes.

Make an updated screencast video and upload the file to Wikimedia Commons (preferably use "Upload a new version of this file") in a free video format.

You will have to play with Phabricator first to understand it before you create your screencast. Please see our documentation and use our test instance of Phabricator.

Look at the instructions, play around yourself, and record the screencast (in a quiet place so we can hear you describing what you are doing). Your video should be less than 1 minute long. The worst thing is that we give you feedback & you have to repeat the video again.

Tips:

  • Focus on the features unique to your screencast. The rest is covered in other screencasts.
  • Write down the main points on a piece of paper, and have them in front of you when recording.
  • The beginning is important. Your first sentences need to introduce the topic to a newcomer.
  • Avoid running the whole screencast showing always the same screen.
  • Use bigger font sizes in your browser.
  • Avoid showing trademarked logos (for example the logo of your operating system).
  • Your voice is going to be the voice of Wikimedia. Using your own words are good, just avoid slang, swearing, etc. Speaking slower than usual helps non-native speakers to follow your voice & actions.
